St Andrew's church has an annual expenditure of about £10,000 to cover Diocesan Quota, heat, lighting and minor maintenance requirements. This is raised by regular giving and other local fund raising events. A summary of the accounts for the past two years is given below: 1999: Income amounted to £8,576, with £3,769 raised from fetes and events. Expenditure was £7,787, the major item being the Diocesan Quota of £3,576. 2000: Income net of funds raised for other organisations was £18,401. The increase in income arose from a higher level of fund raising, donations for special purposes and a grant of £1,000 towards restoration of an altar frontal. The major item of expenditure was the Diocesan Quota of £3,475. Our fete, held on the village green, attracts many visitors and has been one of our major fund raising activities. Recently we have also raised funds through a Parish visitors scheme, when we host overseas visitors for a week of excursions and local hospitality. As a result of the Quinquennial Inspection and the resulting major restoration cost of £200,000 it is now essential that funds are raised from all sources possible to enable our church to continue to play a vital role in the life of the village. |
